The Hingham Downtown Association keeps Hingham’s holiday traditions alive with the 26th annual Christmas in the Square. 

We hope you will celebrate the joys of the season with us! 
Bring family and friends to the Square for traditional holiday merriment - music, crafts for kids, caroling in the street,
horse-drawn hayrides & more.  Scroll down for details.

Schedule Highlights

Friday  December 5, 2008

6:00-8pm Join us for our 26th year of celebrating the holidays with one another in the  streets around the Square.  Musical performances at the corner of Main & South introduced by Hingham's own Scott Wahle, oversized candy canes, children's happy visits with Santa and neighbors greeting neighbors bring the holiday spirit to all in downtown Hingham.
6:30pm est. SANTA CLAUS ARRIVES! on Hingham Fire Department’s Quint Engine with Fire and Police escort.
5:30-8pm

 

Festival of Trees and Gingerbread Houses at the Hingham Historical Society’s Old Derby Academy at 34 Main Street.  Visit this wonderland of decorated trees, gingerbread houses, wreaths and centerpieces. 
Buy Holiday Goodie Bags for children for $5 at Alpaca Suri on South St.  The entire amount will be donated to the 'Ciudad de los Niños' in Lima, Peru. This residential facility provides education, healthcare and social services to orphaned and at-risk Peruvian boys.
Saturday December 6, 2008
10-11am Story Time for children at Talbots.  Settle in to the original Talbots for stories and snacks. 164 North St.
9-12n Hip Hop dance & Karate demos at the Hingham Community Center, 70 South St.
10-12n Rainbow the Clown with shaped balloons and face painting at the newly opened Women's Coop
10am-4pm

Hingham Recreation Department offers Holiday Crafts for kids ages 5 to 12.  Be creative! at the Sherwin Williams store on South Street.

Refreshments & special events in many stores downtown. 
10am-3pm

See Maple Brook Farm's baby alpaca at Alpaca Suri on South Street.  Learn about these charming animals, and how their fur can keep you ultra warm.

10am-4pm

Olympus Camera demos at Noble's Camera Shop.  Learn about cameras and excellent service at this hub of photography in the Square.  29 Main St.

10am-3pm

Festival of Trees at the Hingham Historical Society’s Old Derby Academy at 34 Main Street.    A dazzling array of decorated trees and gingerbread houses have been donated by local businesses, civic groups and friends for a silent auction and  children’s raffle to benefit the Mother’s Club Scholarship Fund. Bid on a unique creation to brighten your holidays!

11am-3pm Touch-a-truck and meet Hingham's finest at the Hingham Gift Company - corner of South & North Streets. Kids! explore a fire truck and check out a sidewalk plow.
 11am-1pm WATD's Sam Kopper brings his collection of holiday music to the Square.   corner of Main & South Streets
 12-3pm The Tattoo Lady is back at Nona's homemade with fun designs for kids to choose from.  19 Main St.  $

Change Ringers' Bells resonate throughout Downtown from the Hingham Memorial Bell Tower on Main Street
 12-3pm Free Horse-Drawn Hayrides!

Enjoy a gentle horse-drawn hayride through our charming downtown.  Rides leave from the corner of Main & North Streets, in front of Bowl & Board. 
Don’t miss this popular holiday tradition! 
Free horse-drawn hay rides will be available every Saturday from November 29th through December 22nd from 12noon to 3pm.
