50th Annual Fourth
of July
Road Race
This 4.6 mile race begins at Hingham Middle
School, runs down historic Main Street, and ends with a
ceremony at the finish line under the giant American
flag in Hingham Square. The race benefits Hingham
Recreation Department programs and provides about 20
children with summer scholarships to the two-week
playground session.

Meeting House Open for Visits
Come in to an Open
House at Old Ship for an hour before and after the
Parade. Townspeople can see, enjoy and learn
more about this historic building and national treasure.
There will be people to answer questions and share
information from the Historic Structure Report that The
Friends of the Old Ship Meeting House just presented to
the Hingham Library and the Community Preservation
Committee, which provided funding for the Report.
Old Ship belongs to all of Hingham; this is an excellent

Fourth of July PARADE!!!
This year's theme is "Hingham Celebrates Learning" with
Grand Marshall Dr. Dorothy Galo, Superintendent of
Hingham Public Schools. The parade features Uncle Sam,
bands, floats, antique cars, and more. Starts at
Hingham High School and wends its way down Main Street
to North Street and on to Station Street by about noon.

Vintage Base Ball Game at Derby Academy
Add a tradition to your your July 4th weekend. Come to
the Hingham Historical Society’s 1880s-style Base
Ball game. There at Derby Academy’s Talbot Field the
Hingham Coopers and the Hingham Derbys will reprise
their epic battle of last September when the mighty
Derbys drove the brave Coopers to humbling defeat,
scoring 10 runs against the Coopers hard-won 5. Starting
at 5pm, the game will end in time for fans to take the
short walk to the beach for the Hingham fireworks at
9pm.

Dazzling FIREWORKS over Hingham Harbor!
The
"Best Fireworks Display on the South Shore", sponsored
by The Hingham Lions Club, can best be seen from the
Hingham Bathing Beach.
Festivities begin at 6:30pm.
The
United States Marine Corps Color Guard will play the
National Anthem at 7pm. Fireworks
begin at approximately 9:00pm. All Boats must be
anchored in the Harbor by 8:00pm. Rain date is
Sunday July 6th.

how to recycle every day materials from the world around
them into works of art.
Taught by working artists Gary Nisbet, Lisa Corrado, &

experience with art. Using collage techniques, gold
leaf, drawing & painting, students will create their own
treasure boxes, quilt panels, & other take-home
projects.
